So there you are, the seven main sheets of the plan set as revised in 1980. There are still plenty of small errors and some large ones here, but it is a good start. I am working on a list of errors, but would rather spend my time making new, accurate drawings! There is no orlop or hold plan, but you can use the ones in Vasa I to get the basic idea there.

Hi Fred, In your comment you say the uploaded drawings are as revised in 1980. But, the drawings you uploaded e.g. 2_b sidovy.pdf are the version from 1970. Would you be willing to upload the 1980 version of the drawings? In particular there is a glaring error in the 1970 drawings, showing a door in the upper part of the lower galleries. From the photos I took of the ship in the museum, there is no door there, just a skylight opening/ window. Thanks, Rob

Rob,
Sorry to disappoint you, but the exterior profile was never updated, so it still shows the door where there is actually a square window. Not sure if this counts as a "glaring" error, since I would consider the incorrect foremast position a bigger issue, but it is one of many detail errors to be found in these plans. It is one of the reasons that I decided against revising the plans, and instead spent more than four years recording the entire ship in detail, timber by timber, to produce an entirely new set of drawings. But it takes a while to do this with a structure this complex!

Do they still sell parts of deckplanks from the Vasa?

We have never sold pieces of the original ship at the museum. We may have sold offcuts from timbers used to lay the new upper deck in the 1980s, although I have not heard of that (long before I started here).

Wasn't there paper sold made from the anchor cable mush found onboard?
Cheers, Peter

Paper made from decomposed rope fibre continues to be sold in the museum shop by the Friends of Vasa. The material was de-accessioned as unconservable at the time of the excavation, and given to the Friends. Fred
