Below is an image of part of the instructions for the spars from a Billing’s Boats model kit. Note it is saying to shave/file the outer ends of the spars to be a reduced diameter. shipsofscale.com/sosforums/attachments/3d1915a1-ef58-4b24-a52f-2fff36954f5a-jpeg.121440/My question is that this does not appear obvious on other models of the Vasa that I have seen. Was the outer ends of the spars reduced in diameter to hold the sails and lines? Many thanks, Peter G.

Hello Peter,
I can't see the pic you are referring to (need to login at shipsof scale before allowed to view) Without pic, I don't understand your question: spars are generally thicker in the middle than at the ends.

Yes, that is correct, the outer ends of the spars are to be shaped as shown in those instructions.  Peter

We have at least two yards that survive. These taper so that the end is about 1/3 the diameter at the center.
