Hi, this is my Billing Boats kit. Its out of the box except I made open gunports that I tried to position based on the wonky locations of the original ship. The front towers on the galleries are not the big ones in the kit either. Otherwise details and things here and there are tweaked as usual on models like these. I lighted the kit also Planking finished. Its single planked as I was afraid to mess with the proportions of the kit. And here she is stained and painted. Colors are my own mix and I find inspiration by the work of the artist Vroom. I also looked at the tarred look of the Götheborg replica when she was new. Other pictures from the build. Ill update as the build progresses. Cheers /Matti

Matti. Glad to see you here. Hey, how did you do it to post that many photos and comments? When I added mine it allowed me only 3 per post and no comments. Edit: Never mind. I just saw the post on how to add photos by Clayton. Seems I'm going to need to learn that Photobucket thing to go on. 2nd Edit: OMG... It is soooo easy to build a photo log here. I uploaded a large bunch of photos to my build log in a matter of minutes. This is great!

Hi Matti
your Vasan looks great. The tarred-look is very realistic! Nice pictures - do you have some more?

Cheers Alexander, Im happy you like it! To paint the hull, I mixed 4 nuanses of bets to stain it. Afterwards I used pastel powder, acrylic washes and drybrushing to make it vibrant. Also sanding to make the layers blend and give a rough look. Airbrushed a coat of acrylic varnish once in a while to bind the pastels and make it blend. Very fun paintjob, but perhaps the trickiest Ive done as its hard to balance. Ill look for pictures.

Cheers Shel! Yeah its good to have a magnifier and steady hands for the small details but I found blending the hull more difficult. Made some more progress on the galleries. /Matti
