Hello Clayton,
With much help from your photos I have completed the standing rigging on my Sergal based 1:60 Vasa. In photo #16 of your set titled Vasa Rigging Practice the fore-topmast stay connects to the bowsprit with a web of lines to distribute the upward tension. On photo #7 of your set titled Finished Scratch Built Vasa it looks like this web of lines has been replaced by a single connection. If I am correct why the change?
Do you make your own blocks, they look beautiful?
Many thanks, Shel Urlik

Hi again Shel! Congrats on finishing your rigging! I originally rigged the crowsfeet on the fore topmast stay because this is how the Vasa museum plans have them. Fred pointed out though that they were likely drawn that way based on a painting, that the painting may have been done that way to exaggerate the complexity of the rig, and that this would not be necessary since the stay tackle is attached to the bowsprit which is a relatively solid attaching point. Crowsfeet are for spreading out the load on a less than solid attaching point, such as a line. Yes, I make my own blocks, and thank you for your compliment. They are done just like the ones that I made for the 1:10 scale model artillery, just smaller. See the below pictures...
