Hello Clayton,
Picture 20 of your 1:50 Scale Scratch Built Rig Process photo series shows a transverse (P to S) slot, presumably with a sheave, in the stub of the top main mast that extends below the main mast crows nest. What is this slot for? Is there also a similar slot in the fore mast?

Hi Shel!
This slot is for the sheave for the toprope, that was used for lowering the topmast in the event of a storm, rigging the ship down for winter or maybe rigging the topgallants.
There is one in the fore topmast too.
