In 1978 I was able to visit the Vasa for the first time. At that time the Vasa was called still "Wasa" and according to this, the shipyard "Wasavarvet".
From this initial experience, which had awakened the desire to build a model in me, I 've taken a number of slides. Meanwhile, these images have even a certain historical charm.
It was possible to see much more of the constuction, because of the many gaps in the planking providing insights. It was also possible to get closer to the ship. Last but not least the lighting was brighter than the new Vasamuseet.
Since the images of 1975 and 1978 to the present lot has changed in the Vasa. One can see that many bad planks were replaced later against parts that fit better and allow the vessel to appear more harmonious.
matti: I already had the idea of a watermark but I have spared the effort. Maybe I'll add them later.
One of the changes made after the 1970s was in the upper deck. The planks initially used there were a working surface, to deal with the constant traffic during conservation and restoration. Once this process was complete, it was possible to lay down the current deck and fit it nicely.
