Hi all this is my build of the Deag Vasa . I have nearly finished pack four which includes planking the hull with the first layer before cutting the gunports. Martyn

Hi seabass I would definitely get a electric plank bender as the wood for the first planking is quite hard to bend without it . Next is a decent knife with interchangeable blades. Plus a plastic 6 inch rule for marking the ribs on the hull. And some tweezers as some of the carvings are tiny. Hope this helps Martyn ps looking forward to seeing your build

Hi all and a happy New Year I have now completed issue 4 so the hull is all planked with the first layer. The gunports where marked and cut out one mistake Deag made on this is the gunports are horizontal when they should have a slight twist so they line up with the whales. Next job planking the stern, this was done as per instructions. The stern chasers where marked ready to be cut out. The fun really starts now, lots and lots of sanding ready for the second planks. Happy modelling Martyn

Hi all I have been busy putting on the second planking and have completed both sides. After sanding I am now marking all the scarf joints and cutting them in. The next job after that is fitting the whales and staining the hull . Thanks for looking Martyn

Hi Martyn,
Looking great! Are you using an iPhone? I used to have problems with picture orientation when I had an iPhone. Looked ok on the screen, but posting on forums had random rotations. Seemed to come right when I edited them in any third party editor (even Google photos)
Keep up the good work!
Cheers, Peter

Thanks for the comments Peter . I'm using a iPad for taking pictures and it does seem to give random rotation but they seem to straighten out when you click on them ? Martyn

Hi all a bit more done on the Vasa The hull has been stained and painted. I have jumped forward with the instructions and fitted the Rudder, the pintails are very hard and need heating to bend easier. The stem carvings have been painted and the stem built . The rails have been made and fitted to the gunwales. The gunports have been lined. Next job making the masts. Martyn

She's coming along nicely, I like the colour of the hull. But do you realize how awkward it is having to turn the screen upside-down to view your pictures ? Peter

Sorry about the pictures being all over the place Peter as they get posted the right way up but as soon as I put them on they seem to go upside down. I use a iPad for the pictures so haven't got a clue what's going on if I click on the pictures they are the right way round?. Thank you very much for the comments on the build . Martyn
